Duration: I’ve worked as a commercial photographer for three years. Staff: I have a first assistant, and four assistants who are on call—depending on the job. Education: I graduated with honors from Art Center College of Design in 2006. As a student I won the APA best of show award and a PDN award. Cultural Influences: I spent a great deal of my childhood in Mexico, in amazing light, where I was a quiet observer of people. When I discovered photography, I started by referencing memories of my time in Mexico and i continue to refer back to it. Environment: I believe that the person I’m photographing should be put at ease, so my goal is to earn their trust. i love images that result from the collaboration with art directors. And, I'm fortunate to have an amazing, proficient staff and a very relaxed working environment (music usually is playing on set).Philosophy: My philosophy is to be engaging and honest. I never shy away from feedback and different ways of doing things. I love cultivating relationships and recognizing the talents of others and putting them to good use. At the end of the day, my goal is for everyone to feel a part of something and to be proud of the images that were created.

Duration: Since 2004. Staff: Me and the Tidepool Reps crew. Education: Portfolio Center, assisting, trial-and-error. Cultural Influences: Everyday people, used things, lonely places, light. Environment: Wherever the camera takes me. Philosophy: Strive for the best, prepare for the worst and pre-production is key.

Duration: Have been taking pictures for a long time, but started shooting full-time in New York in January 2009. Staff: Just me, but I collaborate with some great assistants, hair and makeup, stylists and set people. Education: Studied visual arts and then commercial photography in my homeland of Australia. But my real education came from assisting amazing photographers such as Mary Ellen Mark, Platon, Craig McDean and Arthur Elgort, when I moved to New York. Cultural Influences: Having lived in Australia, United Kingdom, Poland and the USA, as well as having traveled extensively throughout Asia and much of the world, I feel lucky to be able to draw from a wide range of cultural influences. My inspiration comes from cinema, music, dance and painting, with my biggest influences being directors such as Krzysztof Kieslowski, Martin Scorsese, Wong Kai Wai and Alejandro González Iñárritu. Environment: I shoot predominantly on location, as there are more visual elements to utilize. However, I sometimes shoot in the studio and I use light as an extra visual and compositional element. Philosophy: I love what I do and as a result always give 100 percent. It's important to be true to yourself and your vision; keep your integrity and you will never tire of your craft.

CONCEPTUAL PHOTOGRAPHY 1964–1989
Pushing the boundaries of photography is at CITY's core, and we can't wait for tonight's opening of Conceptual Photography, 1964–1989 at New York's Zwirner & Wirth gallery. Featuring works by Lucas Samaras, Charles Ray (Plank Piece I, II, above), Andy Warhol, and Sol LeWitt, the exhibit focuses on the photograph as a creative tool in the making of performance and personal study. Highlighted works include photographic documentation of a Nam June Paik performance and Bruce Nauman's Studies for Holograms (a–e), all proving—as they should—that with exciting photography, there's much more than meets the eye.
